Toyota’s biggest US EV launch yet is a three-row family SUV built in Kentucky, and it’s close. The upcoming Toyota EVs 2027 buyers can plan around are the battery-electric Highlander, the 2027 C-HR and bZ Woodland already arriving at dealers, and the Lexus TZ, the Highlander’s luxury three-row relative. Here’s when each arrives in the US, what it costs and how much Toyota has confirmed.

Toyota has also committed money to a second US-built EV, but hasn’t said what it is. Prices below are US MSRP before destination unless we say otherwise. Every model below uses a NACS charging port, so they can plug into Tesla Superchargers without an adapter.

Toyota Highlander EV

Expected US arrival: Toyota says the AWD version with the 95.8-kWh battery arrives in early 2027 and the FWD version follows in mid-2027, per the Toyota newsroom. Expected price: Toyota will announce MSRP closer to the on-sale date. It’s sold as a 2028-model-year vehicle, the first battery-electric Highlander. Key specs: XLE FWD with a 77-kWh battery, 221 hp and 287 miles; XLE AWD with 270 miles (77 kWh) or 315 miles (95.8 kWh); and Limited AWD with 95.8 kWh, 338 hp and 315 miles. Ranges are Toyota estimates.

What’s confirmed

  • It’s Toyota’s first three-row EV for the US and its first EV built in America, at Georgetown, Kentucky, with battery modules from Toyota’s new North Carolina plant.
  • It seats up to seven with the available bench (second-row captain’s chairs are standard), has 45.6 cu ft of space behind the second row and rides on a 120.1-inch wheelbase, 8 inches longer than before.
  • Standard tech includes a 14-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 and a built-in drive recorder.
  • It has a native NACS port, vehicle-to-load power and DC fast charging from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes, Toyota says.
  • Its sales timing is unchanged since July, Toyota told Carscoops. Our Highlander EV guide covers the full spec sheet.

What’s rumored or reported

  • Production timing: The Highlander EV was unveiled in February 2026 and was originally due to enter production this fall. In July, Toyota said the timeline had slipped by at least eight weeks for “final adjustments,” Carscoops reported. In September, Nikkei Asia reported that assembly won’t start until January 2027 at the earliest. Toyota told Carscoops the extra time is for quality validation and that it still targets the first months of 2027.
  • Price estimate: This is our estimate, not a Toyota figure. We expect a start of roughly $50,000 to $55,000. It’s based on two Toyota-family EVs: the two-row 2027 bZ Woodland at $45,380 sits below it, and the Lexus TZ, which uses the same battery sizes, starts at $64,050 including destination.
  • Subaru twin: Carscoops noted that the Subaru Getaway shares the Highlander EV’s underpinnings and will be built on the same Georgetown line. Subaru announced its own delay in July.

2027 Toyota C-HR

Expected US arrival: at dealers from September 2026. Expected price: from $37,080 for the SE, according to the Toyota newsroom. Key specs: 338 hp, 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds, a 74.7-kWh battery and up to 287 miles of estimated range (273 miles on the higher trim).

What’s confirmed

  • The 2027 C-HR is unchanged from the previous model year, Toyota says. AWD is standard on both the SE and XSE grades.
  • It has an 11-kW onboard charger, 10% to 80% DC fast charging in around 30 minutes and up to 59.5 cu ft of cargo space with the rear seats folded.
  • Its 338 hp matches the Highlander EV Limited’s output in a much smaller SUV.

What’s rumored or reported

  • Nothing significant beyond Toyota’s release. See our C-HR EV guide for trim details.

2027 Toyota bZ Woodland

Expected US arrival: Toyota says the 2027 model arrives at dealers later in 2026. Expected price: from $45,380, per the Toyota newsroom. Key specs: 375 hp, 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds, a 74.7-kWh battery, 281 miles of estimated range (260 miles with all-terrain tires), 8.4 inches of ground clearance and up to 3,500 lb of towing.

What’s confirmed

  • Features and specs are unchanged from 2026, and AWD with X-MODE is standard. It has nearly 6 inches more cargo length than the regular bZ, Toyota says. Our bZ Woodland guide has specs and trims.

What’s rumored or reported

  • Regular bZ price: We’ve seen 2027 bZ pricing quoted in search results but couldn’t confirm it on Toyota’s own site, so we’re leaving it out until Toyota publishes it.

2027 Lexus TZ

Expected US arrival: the TZ 450e Premium AWD opens for orders in late 2026, and the Premium Touring and Luxury follow in early 2027, Electrek reported. Expected price: $64,050 for the Premium, $72,050 for the Premium Touring and $80,550 for the Luxury, all including a $1,550 destination fee. Key specs: 308 hp from a dual-motor AWD system, 77- or 96-kWh batteries, a NACS port, 10% to 80% charging in about 35 minutes at up to 150 kW, and 253 to 315 miles of EPA-estimated range depending on trim, per Electrek and Lexus.

TZ trimPrice with destinationRange (est.)Arrival
TZ 450e Premium$64,050253 miOrders late 2026
TZ 450e Premium Touring$72,050315 miEarly 2027
TZ 450e Luxury$80,550279 miEarly 2027

What’s confirmed

  • The TZ is Lexus’ first three-row electric SUV. At 200.8 inches long, it’s roughly the size of the Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Volvo EX90, Electrek noted. Our Lexus TZ guide covers the cabin and features.

What’s rumored or reported

  • Highlander link: The TZ’s battery sizes (77 and 95.8 kWh) match the Highlander EV’s, which points to shared hardware. That’s our read of the specs, so expect the Highlander to undercut it on price.

Toyota’s second Kentucky-built EV

Expected US arrival: not announced. Expected price: not announced. Key specs: none.

What’s confirmed

  • Toyota is investing $800 million in its Kentucky plant, partly to prepare it for its second battery-electric vehicle, Electrek reported. It’s part of a planned $10 billion in US plant investment over five years.

What’s rumored or reported

  • Nikkei reported in 2025 that Toyota planned two electric SUVs for Kentucky, based on the RAV4 and the Land Cruiser, to replace the outgoing Lexus ES there, Electrek noted. Toyota hasn’t confirmed either. It has shown a Land Cruiser Se electric concept.
  • Toyota’s Scion trademark filings have fueled other speculation, which we covered in Toyota’s Scion trademark filings. That’s a trademark, not a product plan.

Should you wait for the Highlander EV?

If you need three rows and want a Toyota, yes, but plan for early 2027 at the soonest for the AWD model and expect the price to land in the mid-$50,000s, by our estimate. For two-row needs, the C-HR and bZ Woodland are on sale now with known prices. If you want more luxury, the Lexus TZ has published prices and the same basic three-row layout.
