Ford hasn’t officially revealed the 2027 Ranger yet, but most of the changes have already leaked. A dealer order guide that surfaced this week shows the midsize pickup dropping its 2.7-liter V6 for a bigger twin-turbo 3.0-liter. On Oct. 23, Ford Authority added a few details of its own, citing unnamed sources: a blacked-out look for the XLT and a 12-inch screen in every Ranger. Here’s the full list of reported 2027 Ford Ranger changes, and how much of it Ford has actually confirmed.
What’s confirmed
For the 2027 Ranger, nothing yet. Ford hasn’t released specs, trims or pricing for the 2027 model year. Its Ranger page still shows the 2026 truck. On that truck, the XL has 17-inch black-painted steel wheels, a body-color front fascia, a black grille and a 10-inch center screen. The XLT gets 17-inch gray-painted aluminum wheels and the optional 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6. The 12-inch center screen comes on the Lariat, and the Raptor uses a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6.
What Ford has confirmed is the engine move on the Ranger’s platform-mate. In its 2027 Bronco rundown, Ford says the twin-turbo 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 is now available on the Bronco Outer Banks, Badlands and Heritage, and standard on the new Filson. In those models it makes 380 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. The Bronco Raptor keeps a stronger tune. That’s the main reason the Ranger leak below is easy to believe.
What’s rumored or reported about the 2027 Ford Ranger changes
The big item comes from an order guide first published by autoevolution on Oct. 19. It lists the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 as deleted and a “new/changed” 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 as the optional engine on the XLT and Lariat. According to the guide, the 3.0 requires four-wheel drive. The 270-hp 2.3-liter turbo four stays standard on the XL, XLT and Lariat. Car and Driver and Motor1 both picked it up. The guide doesn’t list output, but Car and Driver expects the Bronco’s 380 hp and 440 lb-ft. That would be 65 hp and 40 lb-ft more than the 2.7.
The same guide, as described by those outlets, shows several other changes:
- The base XL gets the 12-inch center screen in place of the 10-inch, plus dual-zone automatic climate control, Intersection Assist and Lane Keeping Assist as standard.
- Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 becomes standard on the XLT.
- The 17-inch black steel wheels are gone in favor of aluminum wheels, and new wheel designs are spread across the lineup.
- The XLT and Lariat get new grille finishes.
- Neptune Blue replaces Velocity Blue, Carbonized Gray is dropped, and a Space Gray interior replaces Sandstone.
- A new Bronze Appearance Package and a new Luxury Package are added, while several older packages are deleted.
Ford Authority’s Oct. 23 report, citing “sources familiar with the matter,” fills in what those grille changes might look like. It says the 2027 XLT gets a black-painted front fascia and rear bumper and a black grille with a black-painted center bar as standard. That’s the look the Ranger Wildtrak already wears overseas. The Wildtrak isn’t sold in the US, but in Australia these touches arrived on the XLT, Wildtrak and Platinum for 2026. According to the site, the XLT also swaps its silver-painted alloys for black-painted wheels. Ford’s current US site calls the XLT’s wheels gray-painted. Ford Authority also says the 10-inch screen is gone entirely, so every 2027 Ranger gets the 12-inch display.

There’s one more wrinkle for Raptor fans. Autoevolution reads the order guide as giving the Ranger Raptor’s high-output 3.0 the same 440 lb-ft as the detuned engine. Ford currently lists the Raptor at 430 lb-ft. Ford hasn’t confirmed that bump.
How solid is all this? The engine swap and the equipment list come from an order guide that several outlets have reported, and they line up with what Ford has already done to the 2027 Bronco. Treat that part as very likely. The XLT appearance changes and the “12-inch screen everywhere” claim rest on a single outlet’s unnamed sources, so consider them unverified until Ford publishes the 2027 Ranger. CarBuzz says it has asked Ford to confirm the 2.7’s exit.
What about price?
No 2027 prices have leaked. For reference, Motor1 puts the 2026 Ranger XL at $35,445 including destination. Car and Driver says the 2.7-liter V6 currently adds $7,545 on the XLT and $5,795 on the Lariat. A bigger engine, aluminum wheels and a larger standard screen don’t usually come free, so expect at least a small increase. That’s our expectation, not a leak.
If you’re shopping now, the main question is whether the 3.0 is worth waiting for. Leftover 2026 XLTs and Lariats with the 2.7 may draw discounts once 2027 trucks reach dealers. If you want the extra power and the bigger screen on a base truck, 2027 looks like the better buy.
