The BMW 2027 models bring the biggest shake-up of BMW’s US lineup in years. Four new electric models arrive: the Neue Klasse iX3 and i3, plus the iX4 and the first electric X5, the iX5. The 3 Series and X5 move to new generations, and the i7 gets a major refresh. Two EVs are on their way out: BMW confirmed the i4 ends after the 2026 model year and that it is ending US allocation of the iX. US prices so far run from $49,900 for a gas 330i to $126,250 for an i760 xDrive. Here’s every new BMW for 2027, with prices and dates.

It has 463 hp, BMW says it gets to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, and BMW estimates 446 to 468 miles of range. It charges at up to 400 kW and goes on sale in the US in the first quarter of 2027, with an i3 M60 planned later in 2027. Production in Munich began in August 2026.
BMW X5 and iX5
The new X5 is built in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Prices start at $69,800 (X5 40), $72,100 (X5 40 xDrive) and $77,500 for the X5 50e plug-in hybrid. The first electric X5, the iX5 60 xDrive, costs $79,800 plus $1,450 destination. BMW quotes 570 hp, 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds and 435 miles of estimated range from a 144-kWh usable battery, with 10-80% charging in 22 minutes. The X5 40 xDrive launches in October 2026 and the iX5 follows in Q1 2027. BMW has also said a hydrogen fuel-cell version will come later.
BMW iX4
The iX4 50 xDrive starts at $66,300 plus destination and handling, launches in March 2027, and has an estimated 428 miles of range. BMW says an iX4 M60 with 603 hp and a 3.7-second 0-60 time will arrive later in 2027.
BMW i7 and i5
Car and Driver reports that the refreshed 2027 i7 starts at $107,750 for the i750 xDrive and $126,250 for the i760 xDrive. BMW estimates about 350 miles of range for the i760. For 2027, the i5’s only change is a switch to a NACS port, according to Car and Driver.
The EVs BMW is dropping
BMW told Car and Driver that 2026 is the i4’s last model year and that the new i3 is its effective replacement. Car and Driver also reported that the i3 overlaps the i4 on size and price while offering far more range. A BMW spokesperson also told Car and Driver the company is “concluding U.S. allocation of the BMW iX” (C/D, April 2026). The iX will continue to be sold in other markets.
What’s rumored or reported
- A new i4, but as a two-door: BMWBlog reports that the i4 name will return around 2028 on Neue Klasse-based coupe and convertible models (BMWBlog). BMW hasn’t confirmed this.
- The i4’s final US build date: BMWBlog says the exact cutoff is unannounced and late 2026 is the reported timing.
- Electric M3: We’ve covered reports about it separately in our electric M3 story. BMW hasn’t published US pricing.

Which 2027 BMW makes sense for US buyers
The value pick is the iX3 50 xDrive. At $61,500 it costs the same as the i3 sedan, has up to 434 miles of estimated range, and is already being delivered. The nearest rivals cost about the same or less. Tesla’s Model Y Premium AWD is $49,990 on tesla.com before fees, with 327 miles. Audi lists the 2027 Q6 e-tron from $64,500 before destination on audiusa.com. The iX3 costs more than the Tesla, but it has a much longer range estimate and a 400-kW charging peak.
If you want a sedan, wait for the i3. The i4’s range tops out at 318 miles in the single-motor model, per Car and Driver, while BMW estimates up to 468 miles for the i3. Unless your local dealer is clearing out 2026 i4s at a big discount, the i3 is the better car for the money. It arrives in Q1 2027.
Big-SUV buyers should look at the iX5. Car and Driver expects the electric X5 to fill the iX’s place in the US lineup, and its 435-mile estimate and US production make it the more future-proof choice. If you want an iX, buy one from remaining dealer stock and negotiate hard.
Gas buyers aren’t left out. The new 330i at $49,900 and the X5 at $69,800 both get the new design and tech. The X5 50e plug-in hybrid is $77,500, and the electric iX5 costs only $2,300 more.
Dates to remember
- Now: iX3 deliveries are underway. The X5 40 xDrive goes on sale in October 2026.
- Late 2026: The i4 is reportedly winding down in the US, and iX allocation is ending.
- Q1 2027: i3 50 xDrive and iX5 60 xDrive.
- March 2027: iX4 50 xDrive.
- Later 2027: i3 M60 and iX4 M60.
