The 2027 Tesla lineup is smaller than it used to be. The Model S and Model X are gone, and the Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck mostly carry over. The one truly new choice is the three-row Model Y L, which starts at $61,990 and begins US deliveries in early 2027. Prices run from $36,990 for a Model 3 to $61,990 for a Model Y L, before Tesla’s $1,640 destination and order fees. Below is every model and trim, with what’s changed and which one we’d pick.
This is a model-year lineup guide. If you want our earlier speculation piece, see 2027 Tesla Model Y: what USA buyers need to know, written before Tesla’s 2026 changes. For the bigger roadmap, including the Roadster and Cybercab, see our upcoming Tesla cars guide.

*Before Tesla’s destination and order fees, which add $1,640 based on Tesla’s own with-fees figures for the Model 3 and Model Y L. Sources: tesla.com/model3, tesla.com/modely and tesla.com/cybertruck (checked October 2026). Model Y Premium and Performance prices reflect the May 2026 increase reported by CNBC. “N/A” means the figure wasn’t shown for that trim where we checked.
What’s confirmed
- The Model S and Model X are done. Car and Driver reported that Tesla built the last Model S and Model X at Fremont in May 2026, with that space moving toward Optimus robot production. MotorTrend’s look at the 2027 Tesla SUV and truck lineup confirms there is no 2027 Model X. Our earlier story covers the end of S and X production.
- The Model Y Standard is now just “Model Y.” Car and Driver noted the June 2026 name change. On Tesla’s site, the base RWD has 321 miles and a 225-kW Supercharging peak, while the Premium trims get 250 kW.
- Model Y prices went up in May. CNBC reported that the Premium RWD and Premium AWD rose $1,000, to $45,990 and $49,990, and the Performance rose $500, to $57,990. It was Tesla’s first Model Y price increase in two years. We covered it in our Model Y price increase story.
- The Model Y L is on sale. Tesla lists the long-wheelbase Model Y L Premium at $61,990, or $63,630 with destination and order fees. It has 332 miles of range, a 4.4-second 0-60 time, seating for up to six and 89 cubic feet of cargo space.
- The Cybertruck carries over. MotorTrend lists the 2027 Cybertruck as essentially unchanged. Tesla’s site shows 325 miles for the Dual Motor and Premium AWD trims, 320 miles for the Cyberbeast, and up to 11,000 pounds of towing on the Premium AWD (7,500 pounds on the Dual Motor).
What’s rumored or reported
- Model Y L delivery timing: Drive Tesla Canada reported that US delivery estimates for the Model Y L Launch Series fall between January and March 2027, with some buyers seeing February to April. The same report says the Launch Series includes a year of FSD (Supervised), Supercharging and Premium Connectivity. Tesla hasn’t published these as standing terms, so check your own order page.
- Model Y L range: At launch, some coverage cited 325 miles. Tesla’s site now shows 332 miles (EPA est.), and we’ve used Tesla’s figure.
- A cheaper Tesla: Reuters reported in April that Tesla is developing a smaller, cheaper compact SUV. Tesla China denied it, and nothing was announced on the Q3 call. It’s not part of the 2027 lineup. Our roadmap guide tracks it.

Model by model: what each 2027 Tesla is for
Model 3
This is the value pick, at $36,990 with 321 miles of range. The Premium AWD, at $42,490, is the long-distance choice with 346 miles. The Performance, at $54,990, gets to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds, which is far quicker than anything else near its price.
Model Y
Most Tesla buyers end up here. There are now five Model Y trims (plus the Y L), and they split into two groups. The two base trims, at $39,990 and $41,990, save money by cutting features. Car and Driver’s drive of the base car noted fabric seats, no rear touchscreen and a covered glass roof. The Premium trims add those features back, plus range. The Premium RWD’s 355 miles is the most of any Model Y.
Model Y L
This is the new one, and it’s where the Model X’s old customers are meant to go. It costs $61,990, has six seats with second-row captain’s chairs and 332 miles of range. Rivals are close on price. Electrek’s launch coverage listed the Kia EV9 at $54,900 with 304 miles and the Hyundai Ioniq 9 at $58,955 with 335 miles. Both have full-size third rows.
Cybertruck
The Cybertruck carries over for 2027. Tesla’s site shows the trims and range above. Pricing has moved several times. In August 2025, Tesla raised the price of its most expensive Cybertruck by $15,000, CNBC noted. Check the configurator for current numbers before you shop.
Which 2027 Tesla should you buy?
| If you want… | Our pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The cheapest Tesla | Model 3 RWD ($36,990) | Lowest price, 321 miles |
| The best all-rounder | Model Y Premium RWD ($45,990) | 355 miles, rear screen and glass roof, $4,000 less than Premium AWD |
| AWD for snow on a budget | Model Y AWD ($41,990) | 4.3 s to 60, but only 294 miles |
| Seven seats | Model Y Premium AWD ($49,990) | Only Model Y offered with a seven-seat option |
| Real space for six | Model Y L ($61,990) | Captain’s chairs, 89 cu ft cargo |
| Speed per dollar | Model 3 Performance ($54,990) | 2.9 s to 60 |
Should you wait for 2028? We don’t see a reason to. Tesla doesn’t make big annual model-year changes the way legacy brands do. It updates cars as it goes. There’s no announced 2028 Model 3 or Model Y redesign, and Musk said on the Q3 2026 earnings call that demand is running ahead of production. That’s not a sign that discounts are coming. The one exception: if you want a used Model X, prices on the final cars are worth watching now that it’s out of production.
