BMW hasn’t announced a BMW M5 facelift price, and it hasn’t officially shown the car. Prototypes wearing near-production lights are testing in Germany, as we showed in our M5 facelift leaked-images story, and several outlets report a 2027 reveal. Using BMW’s real US prices and the timing of the last M5 update, here’s what the updated sedan and Touring are likely to cost, what changes and when they could land. Every estimate is labeled as ours.
What’s confirmed
BMW hasn’t confirmed the facelift. The current lineup is the official baseline. BMW USA lists the 2027 M5 sedan from $123,300 and the M5 Touring from $125,300. With destination and the gas-guzzler tax, CarsDirect puts them at $126,850 and $128,850. The plug-in hybrid V8 makes 717 hp and 738 lb-ft in US spec.
When this generation launched, BMW of North America priced the 2025 M5 at $119,500 and the M5 Touring at $121,500, plus destination. Both have gone up $3,800 in two model years.
What’s rumored or reported
The newest prototypes, shot by Baldauf for Carscoops and by CarBuzz‘s spy team on October 30, show slim horizontal running lights and the familiar quad exhausts. BMWBlog and Autoblog call it the 2028 M5 and report a 2027 reveal. Autoblog suggests US output could rise, but that’s speculation. Nobody has reported a figure.

Expected BMW M5 facelift price in the US
The last M5 update is a useful guide. The 2021 M5 facelift came in at $103,500, with the Competition at $111,100, and it added a bigger screen, new lights and chassis changes. The current car has climbed about 1.5% a year since launch. A facelift with new lighting and software usually adds a bit more than a normal model-year bump, not a new-generation jump.
| Model | US price (before destination) | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 M5 sedan | $119,500 | Official (BMW NA) |
| 2027 M5 sedan | $123,300 | Official (BMW USA) |
| 2027 M5 Touring | $125,300 | Official (BMW USA) |
| Facelifted M5 sedan | $125,000 to $130,000 | usonwheels estimate |
| Facelifted M5 Touring | $127,000 to $132,000 | usonwheels estimate |
We expect the Touring to keep its roughly $2,000 premium over the sedan. Tariff changes could push both higher.
Expected specs
- The plug-in hybrid twin-turbo V8 stays, according to every outlet covering the prototypes. Today’s US figures are 717 hp and 738 lb-ft.
- Any power increase is unreported. Autoblog only speculates, so we wouldn’t count on more than a small bump.
- Slim horizontal running lights, reshaped bumpers and lightly changed taillights are visible in the spy photos. The kidney grilles still look like two separate openings.
- We expect both the sedan and the Touring in the US, as now (usonwheels estimate). BMW hasn’t said anything about the update’s US lineup.
Expected US arrival
BMW revealed the last M5 facelift on June 16, 2020, with a global market launch that August. That’s only about two months from reveal to showrooms. The current generation was introduced for the 2025 model year, so a mid-cycle update in 2027 fits BMW’s usual rhythm and matches what BMWBlog and Autoblog report.
Our estimate is a reveal around mid-2027, with US deliveries following in late summer or fall 2027 as a 2028 model. BMW hasn’t confirmed any dates. For the rest of the brand’s US plans, see every new BMW for 2027.
How we estimated this
We started from today’s official US prices, added the yearly increase the current M5 has seen since 2025, and allowed a little extra for the facelift. Timing comes from the 2020 M5 update and the reported 2027 reveal. These are estimates until BMW announces the car.
