Unveiled in London on September 23, 2026, the Torcal becomes Bentley’s fourth model line alongside the Continental GT, Flying Spur, and Bentayga. It is built in Crewe, England, on the Volkswagen Group Premium Platform Electric (PPE) shared with the Porsche Cayenne Electric, then heavily re-engineered for Bentley ride, sound, and craftsmanship. The S First Edition is the launch flagship: darker, sportier, and more powerful than the core Torcal.
US customers can specify the car now; production starts in Q2 2027, with first US deliveries expected early 2027 as a 2028 model year vehicle. US-spec cars use a native NACS charging port.

US Price and Availability
Official US MSRP has not been locked in a single public figure, but consistent reporting places the core Torcal around $218,000–$230,000 and the Torcal S First Edition around $258,000–$270,000 before options and Mulliner personalization. That positions it below a loaded Bentayga while remaining firmly in ultra-luxury territory.
Configurator access opened with the reveal. Expect strong early demand for the limited First Edition spec, which adds distinctive exterior and interior details plus power-opening doors as standard.
Performance: The Most Powerful Production Bentley
The Torcal S First Edition uses dual permanent-magnet synchronous motors (one per axle), an 800-volt architecture, and a locking rear differential.
| Spec | Torcal (core) | Torcal S First Edition |
|---|---|---|
| Power | ~810 hp (821 PS) | 876 hp (888 PS) with Launch Control |
| Torque | ~881 lb-ft (1,194 Nm) | 996 lb-ft (1,350 Nm) with Launch Control |
| 0–60 mph | 3.3 seconds | 2.8 seconds |
| Top speed | 155 mph | 162 mph |
| Battery | 113 kWh net | 113 kWh net |
| Architecture | 800V | 800V |
Bentley deliberately stopped short of the platform’s maximum output. Engineers told customers anything more violent than this felt uncomfortable; the result is still the highest-output production Bentley ever, with effortless, linear surge rather than a violent launch.
Both versions share the same 192-cell lithium-ion pouch pack and 10-year/100,000-mile battery warranty.
Range, Charging, and US Practicality
WLTP range is quoted at up to 375 miles (600 km). EPA figures are not yet published; most analysts expect roughly 300–330 miles in US testing. For a ~6,000-lb luxury SUV that is a usable figure, especially given charging speed.
- Peak DC charging: 400 kW
- 10–80%: about 16 minutes (some materials say just under 20)
- ~100 miles added in 7 minutes on a sufficiently powerful charger
US cars get a standard NACS port, so they plug directly into Tesla Superchargers and other NACS-equipped networks without an adapter. Charging ports are on both sides and motor-operated. There is also a 90-liter frunk plus a 460-liter rear cargo area. Towing is listed at just under 6,000 pounds.
Design: New Language, Familiar Presence
The Torcal is shorter and lower than a Bentayga (about 4,983 mm / 196 inches long) with a long wheelbase, short overhangs, and an “endless bonnet.” It introduces Bentley’s next-generation design: rectangular lighting inspired by the Arnage, an illuminated floating diamond grille (76 hand-applied diamonds that light when you unlock the car), and a clean “prestigious shield” rear first shown on the EXP 15 concept.
The S First Edition adds:
- Black brightwork, black badges, and black mirror caps
- Dark-tinted taillights
- Sportier front bumper strakes, side sills, and rear diffuser
- Red brake calipers
- Standard 22-inch wheels (21-inch on the core model)
Five wheel designs are available. New colors include Electrum (satin) and Astral gloss.

Interior and First Edition Luxury Features
The cabin is the strongest argument that this is still a Bentley first and an EV second. Physical knurled controls remain on the console and wheel. The centerpiece is a vertically curved 12.25-inch OLED screen—the first OLED in a Bentley—plus an augmented-reality head-up display.
Standout materials and features:
- World-first 100% Merino wool automotive fabric (Responsible Wool Standard, developed with Fox Brothers)
- Mulliner Ombré Walnut veneer pressed from up to 1,000 layers of sustainable off-cuts
- Sunburst Aluminium and multiple piano finishes
- 15 leather shades plus Dinamica and wool options
- Power-folding rear seats (a Bentley first)
- Massage, ventilation, heating, and Postural Adjust
- Electrochromic “Frosted Diamond” panoramic roof
- Facial recognition that loads driver profiles
- Four Experience / Curation Modes: Bentley, Comfort, Sport, and Refresh (lighting, climate, sound, and displays change together)
The S First Edition typically adds a dedicated color split, unique quilting and stitching, sports pedals, Piano Black or equivalent dark veneers, illuminated treadplates, and dynamic waterfall ambient lighting. Power-opening doors (all four can open together) are standard on the First Edition.
Audio: 620W / 16-speaker system standard; optional Naim 1,780W / 28-speaker system with seat shakers, headrest speakers, and Dolby Atmos 7.1.
Sound itself is a major feature. Instead of a recorded V8, Bentley created a “Dynamic Symphony” with real instruments (drums, viola, bass) that responds to torque and speed. Indicator clicks and other interface sounds were also recorded from physical objects (hammer on leather, crystal glass). An external speaker can play a discreet version for bystanders.

Chassis: Magic Carpet Plus Handling
The Torcal is the first Bentley with fully active suspension. Adaptive two-valve dampers at each corner raise and lower independently and replace conventional anti-roll bars. Combined with standard all-wheel steering (up to 5 degrees at the rear), the turning circle is 11.1 meters—tight for a five-meter SUV.
Bentley says the car can ride like a Flying Spur and handle like a Continental GT Speed depending on mode. Optional carbon-silicon-carbide brakes grow to 440 mm up front.
ADAS includes more than 25 radars, cameras, and sensors, remote parking, trainable maneuvers, and a “space detection” feature that can automatically reverse on a narrow road to let another vehicle pass.
Who the Torcal S First Edition Is For
Bentley is not chasing Tesla volume or Ferrari’s ultra-exclusive EV positioning. The Torcal is meant to be a more accessible entry into the brand while still feeling hand-built. Roughly half of early interest is from existing Bentley owners adding an EV; the other half is new to the marque. It competes most directly with the Range Rover Electric at a higher price and with a more sporting, lower-slung character.
If you want the first all-electric Bentley with the darkest, most powerful launch spec, the S First Edition is the one to order. Contact a US retailer for current allocation, exact options, and the latest EPA-range confirmation as certification completes.
Key takeaway for US buyers: 876 hp, 2.8-second 0–60, NACS charging, 10-year battery warranty, fully active suspension, and a cabin that still smells and feels like Crewe—not a tablet on wheels. That combination is what Bentley is betting will break the “luxury EV curse.”
