Toyota owners who only want remote start can stop paying for navigation and streaming they never use. Toyota Remote Connect is once again sold on its own for $8 a month, owners on Tacoma and Tundra forums report. Toyota’s own Connected Services page now lists it that way. The bigger bundle also appears to have gotten cheaper.
What’s confirmed
Toyota’s Connected Services Plans page currently lists three plans for “select 2022 and later Toyota vehicles”:
- Remote Connect: $8 per month. Remote start, lock and unlock, vehicle status and smartwatch control.
- Premium: $15 per month. Drive Connect cloud navigation with live-agent help and the voice assistant, plus unlimited Integrated Streaming (Amazon Music on select 2022 and later vehicles, Spotify on select 2026 and later vehicles). Remote Connect is included.
- Wi-Fi Connect: $25 per month. The AT&T hotspot.
That’s a real change from earlier this year. In January, USA Today listed Toyota’s plans as Music Lover at $15, Go Anywhere at $15 and Premium at $25 a month, with Remote Connect bundled into each one. There was no cheaper remote-only option on that list. Toyota’s US Virgin Islands site still shows that older lineup, marked “pricing current as of 3/26.”
We found no Toyota press release about the change. Toyota hasn’t said when it happened, which vehicles qualify or whether annual pricing changed.
What owners are reporting
Owners caught the change before any announcement. On Oct. 24, a Tacoma4G member posting as saerandy started a thread called “$8/mo Remote Connect is back.” They wrote that until recently you had to buy remote features bundled with streaming or navigation for about $15 a month. Other members said they downgraded the same day. One member said the option appears in the Toyota app under the Shop tab, then Manage Subscriptions. Another only saw it after logging out and back in.
On Oct. 29, a Tundras.com member posting as g4waldo said they got an email saying they could go back to standalone Remote Connect for $8 a month, and that their current Drive Connect plan would switch to Premium, streaming included, for the same $15. A Toyota Nation thread from a 2026 Crown owner carries the title “Suddenly Remote Connect is available for $8/month.”

One complaint keeps coming up. Saerandy says existing subscribers were moved to the bigger plan at the same price and weren’t told the $8 option existed. That’s one owner’s account, and we haven’t seen Toyota’s email to confirm the wording. Still, it’s worth checking your own plan.
What you get, and what you lose, for $8
According to Toyota’s page, Remote Connect covers remote start, remote climate, remote headlights and hazards, lock and unlock, guest driver alerts, vehicle status alerts and last parked location. Electrified Toyotas also get climate settings, charge management and charging-station search. Dropping to $8 means giving up Toyota’s cloud navigation, the live agent, the onboard voice assistant and Integrated Streaming. If you already use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto for maps and music, you may not miss them.
How to check your plan
- Open the Toyota app, tap Shop, then Manage Subscriptions, owners say.
- If you don’t see the $8 plan, owners report that logging out and back in can bring it up.
- Toyota says plans vary by vehicle, so not every 2022 or newer model may qualify. If in doubt, ask your dealer or Toyota’s Connected Services support.
