The 2027 Chevy Equinox EV starts at $34,995 before an $1,800 destination fee. That’s the same base price as before, with the same 319 miles of EPA-estimated range in front-wheel-drive form. The main change is a native NACS charging port, so you can plug into Tesla Superchargers without an adapter. It’s still one of the best values among US EVs. But for 2027 it has lost its “most affordable 315-mile EV” title to the Kia EV3, by $310 once destination fees are counted.

2027 Chevy Equinox EV price and range by trim
| Trim | Chevrolet.com price | Electrek (Aug 2026) | EPA est. range |
|---|---|---|---|
| LT1 FWD | $34,995 | $34,995 | 319 mi |
| LT1 AWD | N/A | $38,295 | 307 mi |

| RS FWD | $44,395 | $44,085 | 319 mi |
| RS AWD | N/A | $47,395 | 307 mi |
Prices exclude destination. Electrek reports the destination fee as $1,800. The Chevrolet.com column shows “starting at” prices from Chevy’s Equinox EV page (checked October 22, 2026), which doesn’t list AWD trims separately. The Electrek column comes from its August comparison. Range figures are from both sources.
About the price gap: Chevrolet’s site now shows the LT2 at $42,095 and the RS at $44,395, which is $300 and $310 more than Electrek reported in August. The LT1 price matches. We couldn’t find an announcement explaining the change, so treat Chevrolet’s current numbers as the ones to use, and confirm in Chevy’s build-and-price tool. Chevy prices can change without notice.

- Charging speed: Chevrolet says DC fast charging adds up to 80 miles of range in 10 minutes.
- Cabin and tech: A 17.7-inch center touchscreen and 11-inch driver display are standard, and Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance is available. Max cargo volume is 57.2 cubic feet, with seating for five.
- Trims: LT1, LT2 and RS, each available with FWD or AWD.

Equinox EV vs. Kia EV3: which is the better deal?
Chevrolet’s site still calls the Equinox EV “America’s most affordable 315+ mile range compact SUV.” Electrek points out that the fine print bases this on 2026 model-year pricing. For 2027, the Kia EV3 Wind FWD is $34,990 with 321 miles of range. With Kia’s $1,495 delivery fee, that’s $36,485, or $310 less than a delivered Equinox LT1 FWD, with 2 more miles of range.
| 2027 Chevy Equinox EV LT1 FWD | 2027 Kia EV3 Wind FWD | |
|---|---|---|
| Base price | $34,995 | $34,990 |
| Destination | $1,800 | $1,495 |
| Delivered price | $36,795 | $36,485 |
| EPA est. range | 319 mi | 321 mi |
| AWD option | From $38,295 (307 mi) | From $38,690 (280 mi) |
| Length | 190.6 in | 169.3 in |
| Max cargo | 57.2 cu ft | 56.5 cu ft |
| Center screen | 17.7 in | Dual 12.3-in displays + 5-in climate screen |

Our take: The $310 gap doesn’t matter much. What matters is size and drivetrain. The Equinox is more than 21 inches longer and has a little more cargo room. If you need AWD, the Equinox is the clear choice: Electrek’s numbers show the LT1 AWD is $395 cheaper than the EV3 Wind AWD and gets 27 more miles of range. The EV3 is the better pick if you want an easier car to park in the city, or if the $29,890 base EV3 Light, with 221 miles of range, covers your needs.
Other rivals US buyers should cross-shop
| EV | US starting price | Range | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chevrolet Bolt LT | $27,600 (model page) / $28,995 (FAQ) | 262 mi EPA est. | chevrolet.com |
| Kia EV3 Light FWD | $29,890 + $1,495 | 221 mi | Electrek |
| Chevrolet Equinox EV LT1 FWD | $34,995 + $1,800 | 319 mi | chevrolet.com / Electrek |
| Tesla Model Y RWD | $39,990 (before fees) | 321 mi | tesla.com |
About the Bolt price: Chevrolet’s Bolt page shows “Starting at $27,600” for the LT, while the FAQ on the same page says the Bolt “has a starting MSRP of $28,995.” Chevy doesn’t explain the $1,395 difference. It may be a destination fee or an older figure, but that’s our guess, so check the configurator. Either way, the Bolt costs roughly $6,000 to $7,400 less than the Equinox EV but has 57 fewer miles of range.
Charging the 2027 Equinox EV
The NACS switch is the most useful change for owners. Chevrolet says DC fast charging adds up to 80 miles of range in 10 minutes, and it advertises access to more than 250,000 public chargers across North America. With a native NACS port, you can plug into compatible Tesla Superchargers directly. At CCS-only stations, you’ll need a NACS-to-CCS adapter. InsideEVs notes most non-Tesla networks now offer both connectors. At home, a NACS-equipped wall charger plugs straight in. If you already have a J1772 home charger, you’ll need an adapter, InsideEVs reports.
If you’re replacing a 2024-2026 Equinox EV, there’s no reason to trade up for the port alone. An adapter does the same job. For new buyers, though, one less adapter to keep in the car is a real convenience.
Who should buy the 2027 Equinox EV
- Families on a budget who need a compact SUV with real range and space: the LT1 FWD at $34,995 is the sweet spot.
- Buyers in snowy states: the LT1 AWD, at $38,295 per Electrek, is one of the cheapest AWD EVs with 300-plus miles of range.
- Road-trippers: native NACS makes Tesla Superchargers easy to use. Check that the stations on your regular routes are open to non-Tesla vehicles.
- Skip the LT2 and RS unless you want the features. They add about $7,100 to $9,400 for comfort and style features, with no extra range.
Should you wait for a 2028? No 2028 changes have been announced. With the 2027 model already carrying over, there’s no strong reason to wait. Do check Chevy’s current offers before you buy.
